New York is the favorite destination in the world for LGBTQ+ travelers and a top destination for Pride travel, offering some of the most meaningful and dynamic celebrations in the
country. As the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement, the Empire State honors its legacy each summer with events that stretch far beyond New York City. From historic landmarks to beachfront celebrations, Pride in New York blends culture, history and community in unforgettable ways.

Celebrating it’s 20th anniversary, the event features performances, local vendors at A Big Gay Market and wellness resources from organizations like the Pride Center of the Capital Region and the Alliance for Positive Health.
The celebration continues with the Capital Pride Parade and Festival on June 14, bringing together the community for a day of advocacy, connection and entertainment, including a special performance by David Archuleta. Throughout the month, Albany hosts additional programming ranging from Alt Prom and BBQs to a Pride 5K.
New York City: Harlem Pride & NYC Pride (June 27–28, 2026):
New York City’s Pride weekend kicks off uptown with Harlem Pride on June 27, a vibrant, family-friendly celebration featuring live performances, celebrity hosts, food vendors and valuable community resources. Activities for all ages include face-painting and a Drag Queen Story Hour. The celebrations continue June 28 with the annual NYC Pride March, the oldest and first Pride march in the country, filling the streets of Manhattan with millions of spectators and participants as the largest LQBTQ parade in the country.
Beyond the main events, visitors can experience LGBTQ+ history firsthand at the Stonewall Inn, widely recognized as the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement following the 1969 Stonewall Uprising. Today, the surrounding area is preserved as the Stonewall National Monument, where travelers can visit the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center for exhibits, tours and programming that honor the ongoing fight for equality.
Long Island: Fire Island Pride & Invasion of the Pines (July 2026):
One of Fire Island’s iconic LGBTQ+ communities, The Pines and Cherry Grove have long served as a haven for self-expression and celebration. Each year on July 4, Fire Island transforms into one of the most colorful stages for queer celebrations for the Fire Island Invasion, a vibrant reenactment of the 1976 protest that began when a drag queen was denied service in the Pines. Her friends responded by arriving in full drag via ferry from Cherry Grove, launching what is now an annual spectacle. Today, queens keep the tradition alive by parading through Cherry Grove and sailing across the bay, greeted by cheering crowds on the Pines dock. Visitors can sip cocktails at Cherry’s on the Bay, dance into the evening at Sip-N-Twirl or enjoy Low Tea at The Blue Whale or spend the day relaxing on the sands of Atlantique Beach or poolside at the Grove Hotel.
